when madness takes more than its toll
and the slicing maw of the darkness opens its ugly forceps
you are felt with only one choice
and you'd rather spit in the monster's eye than take that chance

the river never ceases and the children cry
as their parents skulls float across to them
and you are the only one who could have stopped this carnage
but that is how selfish you are

they ate
the avalanche
and you threw
the first stone
and they all laughed
at your false start
and as we put on our coats
you cried
